Do NOT Use a Straw<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>After any oral surgery, you\u2019ll want to stick to a diet of soft, nutritious foods and stay hydrated. However, whether you\u2019re enjoying a smoothie, milkshake, or glass of water, don\u2019t drink through a straw! Doing so creates suction in your mouth, which can dislodge the blood clot around the implant site and cause it to bleed. This will set you back on your healing progress and increase your risk of infection, so opt out of using a straw for at least a week or so.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">4.) Do NOT Eat Hard or Spicy Foods<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>When choosing your snacks and meals after dental implant surgery, avoid options that are hard, crunchy, or spicy. Hard or crunchy foods can potentially damage the sensitive healing tissues around the surgical site, and spicy foods can irritate and inflame them. That\u2019s why right after your dental implant surgery, you should stick to bland foods like mashed potatoes, yogurt, eggs, and applesauce. You can gradually start returning to your normal diet as you heal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">5.) Do NOT Ignore Persistent Pain<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>You should expect to experience some swelling, soreness, and irritation for at least a few days after your dental implant surgery.
